05 Mar Top family fun activities in and around Estepona
Here on the coast there’s that old saying “West is Best.” Well, it certainly holds true for fun-filled activities to entertain and delight the whole family. Just a short drive away heading west on the N-340, adventures await!
Here are our top 5 picks for you and your kids:
A safari park like no other is Selwo Aventura, only a 10-minute drive west of Casa Eucalyptus. From lions, elephants, rhinos and giraffes to lemurs, zebras, and various exotic birds and reptiles, over 2000 species from around the globe are enclosed in natural pristine habitats. Visitors can wander through tropical and subtropical regions of the park and get up close and personal to cheetahs, gibbons, flamingos, red pandas and meerkats and many more. Have a go on the zipline and the trampolines for that adrenaline rush! Follow the paths over the hanging bridges of the park to get spectacular panoramic views. Finally, be sure to book a “Serengeti Safari,” a drive through the heart of Africa in one of the park’s all-terrain vehicles for amazing close encounters with Africa’s most iconic animals. The only missing element to this fabulous adventure is the all-knowing charismatic voice of David Attenborough!
As we all tend to overindulge whilst on holiday, why not burn those extra calories and blow off some steam with a fun and thrilling game of paintball?! Only a 12 minutes’ drive from Casa Eucalyptus, Paintball Estepona offers 6 themed playing fields spread out over 27,000 m2 of terrain. The Chill-Out and BBQ areas offer much needed shade after a high paced battle! You can bring a packed lunch or order a BBQ spread with advanced reservation. We recommend coming out in the morning as it does get hot and sweaty in all that protective gear! Comfortable clothing and shoes are must! A great bonding experience for parents and older kids (from 8 years old).
When you and your family have “the need – the need for speed,” just head out to Kart&Fun Estepona for some of the best go karting on the coast. Offering both a kids and adult circuits and nearly 2 km of track, race against each other or against the clock! Anyone over 6 can drive, and the littler ones can accompany Mum or Dad in a 2-seater kart. What better way to end the day than by burning some rubber à la Lewis Hamilton!
Nothing quite compares to an afternoon spent at Mundo Mania, the largest indoor/outdoor soft play centre on the coast, catering to kids of all ages, from tots to teens, and of course Mums and Dads! Just a 5-minute drive from Casa Eucalyptus, the kids will be entertained for hours in indoor ball parks, play-frames and climbing wall as well as outdoor water park, trampoline park and sports pitches. The teens can enjoy a variety of table games from pool to air hockey plus the outdoor sports pitches. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, you can relax and enjoy a cheeky drink or grab a tasty lunch. Not to be missed!
Well worth the drive is a trip to the Zoo of Castellar, located just outside the medieval town of Castellar de la Frontera. What started out as a small private sanctuary for abandoned or seized exotic animals of the black market pet industry, has grown into a unique zoo…unlike any other we’ve come across. Where else could you and your family stroke lion and tiger cubs, cuddle a kinkajou, play with lemurs, or hand feed a variety of birds in the aviary. The zoo relies on entrance fees and donations in order to maintain and improve their facilities as well as rescue more animals in need. Highly recommended for all ages!
These are only a few of the fabulous destinations located just a hop, skip, and a jump from Casa Eucalyptus. So, what are you waiting for?! 🙂
